Ohio Christian Alliance praises passage of the “Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act”

Yesterday the House granted final passage to H.R. 4472, the “Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act”. The Senate offered unanimous consent to pass the bill, and yesterday the House displayed overwhelming support for its passage. The bill now goes to President Bush for his signature which is expected Thursday. Chris Long, Executive Director of Ohio Christian Alliance issued the following statement:
In recent years, we have seen a rise in crimes of sexual abuse against America’s children. This legislation, through the creation of the National Sex Offender Registry and the accompanying public database, will go a long way in aiding families and law enforcement to help track convicted sex offenders as they enter communities and cross state lines. The high rate of repeat offenders necessitates the communities’ abilities to track these individuals when they move into their neighborhoods.
We at the Ohio Christian Alliance pray for all the children and families that have been tragically affected by sex offenders.”
I am honored to be invited to the White House for the signing of this important legislation. We commend both those members of Congress and President Bush for the passage and signing of this bill into law.” |
