Ohio Christian Alliance Supports Adoption Opportunity Act

Ohio Christian Alliance today praised the efforts of State Senator
Patricia Clancy and the co-sponsors of the Adoption Opportunity
Act, S.B. 20, which was heard today in the Ohio Senate Ways and
Means and Economic Development Committee, chaired by Senator Ron
Amstutz.
Senator Clancy stated in her sponsor testimony, “Adopting a child
can be a costly endeavor. Expenses associated with adoption can
total tens of thousands of dollars. The Child Welfare Information
Gateway estimates that adoptions fall into the cost range of $2,500
to over $40,000. The costs associated with adoption can be
overwhelming to prospective parents.”
Ohio Christian Alliance President Chris Long is delighted that this
bill, which will effectively triple the current tax credit of $500
to $1500, has been introduced. He states, “There are thousands of
children in Ohio awaiting adoption. It is our belief that the
passage of this bill will encourage prospective adopting parents
and will lessen the financial expense through the adoption
process.”
The Adoption Opportunity Act, introduced in the Ohio Senate by
Senator Patricia Clancy and in the Ohio House by Representative
Danny Bubp, is a family-friendly bill that will assist families in
Ohio who want to adopt children and offer them a loving ho
