Ohio Christian Alliance
"WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE"  Ohio State Motto

We have until midnight on Wednesday to meet this goal!

We have an urgent year-end goal of $15,000, of which $5,500 has been contributed by generous donors. But, we need your help today.  Our remaining need is for $9,500 by December 31st.  Click here to make a contribution.  You can also make a tax-deductible contribution to the OCA Ed Fund.

Protect Ohio's Vote PAC Has Been Launched. Due to the fact that the legislature did not pass H.B. 269 (Ohio's voter photo ID requirement), OCA, with a coalition of groups, will launch an effort to place voter photo ID on the ballot for November 2015! We will have a major announcement in January. We are in need of your financial support to help us reach a goal by this year's end. Please consider your best gift today. You can also make a tax-deductible contribution to the OCA Ed Fund. Thank you for your support. – Chris Long

2014 Successes With Your Help

Update on WWII Memorial Prayer Act. The Ohio Christian Alliance was successful this year in moving through Congress the D-Day Landing Prayer Act, also known as the WWII Memorial Prayer Act, S 1044. The original sponsor of the legislation was none other than Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio's 6th District. Our Senate sponsor was Senator Rob Portman. The Senate version miraculously passed by unanimous consent on June 5th of this year, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. One week later, the U.S. House of Representatives concurred with a large bipartisan vote. On Monday, June 30th, The President signed it into law. (The WWII Memorial Prayer Act will place FDR's D-Day Landing Prayer in its entirety at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.)

Next steps: OCA will be working with veterans groups, VFW posts, and the American Legion and Friends of the WWII Memorial for the proper design and placement of the prayer. Contributions to the OCA ED Fund can help in this effort.

We have a year-end goal to raise $15,000 by December 31st to help with these projects. Will you please consider a contribution to the Ohio Christian Alliance Ed Fund? Contributions to the Ed Fund are tax-deductible. Thank you.
Sincerely,

We stopped an effort that would have encroached on the Founding of America Documents Curriculum in the Ohio classroom!

As many of you know, three years ago after a decade of work, we were successful in passing the Founding of America Documents Curriculum for Ohio schools, strengthening the American history and government standards, assuring that the U.S. Constitution, The Bill of Rights, The Declaration of Independence, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers, The Northwest Ordinance, and The Ohio Constitution would be taught in the Ohio classroom from grades 8 – 12. We continue to monitor the progress in the school districts for its implementation, and have been receiving encouraging reports. But, there is still more to do to make sure that this important curriculum study is fully implemented in all school districts in all 88 counties in Ohio.

The challenge we faced this December during the lame duck session was from a world history bill requirement, S.B. 96, sponsored by State Senator Frank LaRose and endorsed by the Ohio Council for the Social Studies. The problem we faced with S.B. 96 was the crowding out of the Founding of America Documents Curriculum in social studies - We were successful in limiting its impact. The amended bill reduced the credit hour for world history to one-half credit, no end of  course exam requirement, and delayed implementation until 2017.  This will give the Founding of America Documents curriculum time to take seed in the Ohio classroom; that was our goal, and with your help we were successful in meeting this challenge.

Please help us reach our year-end goal by making a generous contribution today. Any amount will help.  Thank you and God bless you.  - Chris Long, President OCA
